Why Vlogging and Podcasting Are Better Than Text

Text web pages and blogs are here to stay. There are many people that prefer to read information. Videos and podcasts have their places, but they cannot be printed out. But in some ways, vlogging and podcasting are better than creating text websites and blogs.
With text, you can do many things, and you can even portray emotion to an extent. But you cannot fully express your emotions. With vlogging and podcasting, there really is no limit to the amount of emotion you can express with your voice (podcasting) or with your actions (video). You can change the pitch of your voice drastically to portray excitement, passion, sarcasm, or any other type of expression or emotion.
Video allows you to demonstrate things that you cannot possibly demonstrate with plain text. For example, video can be used to demonstrate how to groom a poodle. With text, you can only explain it, but not really show it in action. Humor is better displayed on video as well. We’ve probably all seen the funny stories about giving a cat a pill – but actually being able to watch someone try to do it is hilarious.
People cannot take text with them, without printing it out. However, if you have a vlog, it can be used as a vodcast, and if their portable media device is equipped for video, it’s easy to load it up and take it on the go. Of course, podcasts can also go wherever the listener goes, much easier than text can.
People can listen to podcasts while doing multiple other things, such as house cleaning, exercising, driving, etc. However, even if they print out text, they really can’t read it while doing any of these things. In fact, reading pretty much requires 100% focus on the text. Vlogs and podcasts do not.
Vlogs and podcasts are getting a great deal of attention these days, more so than text. People like new technology, and podcasting and vlog technology advancements are being made almost daily. People get upgraded portable media devices, and want to try them out – they are searching for podcasts and vodcasts – or video blogs – more than they are searching for text.
There is also another way that vlogs and podcasts are better than text. People who cannot see are able to hear your voice, instead of a computer voice that reads a web page, when you have a podcast or vlog.
Again, this doesn’t mean that text is becoming obsolete. That will not happen. Just as vlogs and podcasts have distinct advantages over text, text also has distinct advantages over vlogs and podcasts. What does this all add up to? You can’t forgo text for podcasts and vlogs. If you do, you will find that you aren’t doing nearly as well as you were with just plain text, and you will do even better when you learn to combine text with podcasting and/or vlogging. While technology advances, text is a classic that is never going to go out of style.
